‘Ghost Dragon’ Found In China

It has sat in the earth for 120 million years and when it was alive it had a wing span of 13 to 16 feet and is a part of the ancient Pterosaurs family of reptiles.

This creature is the Guidraco venator, which when translated from Chinese means “ghost dragon hunter” and it is one of the most amazing fossil finds in recent times.

Most of the remains of these amazing animals close relations were found inareas that once held plains or river valleys, meaning that most likely the Guidraco Venator lived inland. It’s two inch teeth, perfect for hunting in water, along with some fossilized feces riddled with fish remains near this finds head points to mainly a  diet of fish.

Before, most of the closely related types of Pterosaurs have been found in Brazil, but this new find leads experts to think they may have had a much larger population over a more widely spread part of the Earth then originally thought, as expressed by pterosaur researcher David Martill:

“[The] similarities to some Brazilian pterosaurs show that these animals were probably distributed globally.

“We can [now] hope to find them anywhere in the world where early Cretaceous strata crop out. We have found some tantalizing fragments in England, some dating back to discoveries made in the 19th century, that indicate similar animals.”

I’m just glad I’m not a fish.
